GRATECAL ART 1.5D – Simulation software for prediction of fouling dynamics

What is GRATECAL ART 1.5D?

It is simulation software for prediction of fouling dynamics during solid fuel combustion in grate furnaces.

  • It numerically solves heat and mass transfer within a solid fuel bed including evaporation, pyrolysis, char oxidation and homogenous reactions
  • It predicts vaporization and release of ash particles
  • It enables two-way coupling with an external CFD code to provide ash particle data and identify locations with increased level of fouling of heat transfer surfaces in a grate-fired furnace

 

The development of this software was funded by Technology Agency of the Czech Republic under project No. TE02000236 “Waste-to-Energy (WtE) Competence Centre”.
