CLEAN OCEAN PROJECT

The software models the production and consumption of heat, electricity, waste, and other commodities that can be utilised on the technological vessel. It evaluates potential scenarios with regards to waste composition, installed technologies (desalination station, pyrolysis station, waste-to-energy facility, sorting line and other), and waste collection (collection vessels and technologies). The objective function reflects:

  • total cost of such system including investments,
  • crew wages, operational cost,
  • establishment cost,
  • disposal cost,
  • revenues of sold commodities.

The scenarios can simulate all possible situations that can occur to support decision-making about the entire system. The model is designed in general – every part of the system can be further described in more detail, which includes environmental point of view, heat specific requirements, recuperation units (thermal oil temperature), and other subsystems. The model considers real ocean transportation network (distances) and ports all over the world.

The development of these software was funded by Technology Agency of the Czech Republic under project No. TE02000236 “Waste-to-Energy (WtE) Competence Centre”.
