Orientation towards actual practice

Research at the Institute is directed towards applied research which puts to use results of basic research and prioritizes development and actual implementation of knowledge. The process usually looks like this

Research “from scratch to launch”

An example from the food processing industry :

Complex approach

A monograph written by Professor Petr Stehlík and published by Springer is a good proof of the outstanding quality of research and development at our Institute.

Areas of research, development and execution activities

A list of the Institute’s research focus areas is long and constantly evolves. For more information, please follow the link činnosti ústavu Our main research focus areas include:

  • Energy production from waste and biomass
  • Cleaning of flue gas and other waste gases
  • Heat transfer systems
  • Equipment design and computational modeling
  • Development of new pieces of equipment for process industry, power industry and municipal sphere

Promoting research, development and execution

  • International and national research projects and grants
  • Optimal combination of experimental and theoretical approach, use of IT
    • cooperation with the Czech Academy of Sciences (use of results of the basic research)
    • cooperation with businesses (feedback from businesses, data from their facilities and applications in the municipal sphere)
  • Unconventional approach using mathematics (optimization, statistics, etc.)
  • Unique experimental basis
  • Development of our own inhouse software systems
