Experimental unit for for two-stage absorption flue gas cleaning

The thermal treatment of waste generates a high amount of undesirable and harmful substances. Their complete removal or reduction below the emission limit is achieved by using both mechanical and chemical flue gas cleaning methods. In the case of gaseous acids (SO2, HCl, HF), but also alkaline (heavy metal oxides), the chemical principle of absorption is used for their capture.

Unit specification

The experimental unit is a two-stage flue gas cleaning technology. The capture of acidic components (SO2, HCl) is carried out by the wet scrubbing. The first stage represents a new, our institution developed, apparatus called „O-element“. The second stage consists of a packed absorbent column with a structured charge. This unit is used for the investigation of the efficiency of various ways of absorbing acidic components and also of the effect of operating conditions on the efficiency of the absorption devices. The experiments simulate the conditions corresponding to the technology of waste incineration and cleaning of the generated flue gas in industrial applications.
