Estimation of Construction Waste in Urban Renewal under Brno’s Master Plan and Brownfield Revitalization
O co jde
What it is about
Brno’s newly implemented master plan outlines ambitious spatial development projects to accommodate up to 170,000 new residents, focusing on the revitalization of over 100 targeted brownfield sites. Transforming these old industrial and commercial facilities into new residential housing generates massive volumes of construction and demolition waste, excavation soil, and hazardous materials. This project focuses on predicting and quantifying these future waste streams using dynamic, scenario-based modelling combined with spatial GIS data from the city of Brno. The research will directly evaluate the circular potential of reusing these materials within local municipal infrastructure projects.
Na čem budete pracovat
What you will work on
- You will review current European and Czech legislation regarding construction waste management and brownfield development.
- You will identify and map high-priority brownfield redevelopment zones outlined in the Brno master plan.
- You will develop a material flow analysis and scenario-based model to estimate waste fractions and evaluate options for maximum on-site reuse.
